Belgian Building Awards: Wienerberger wins Design Award
(Tienen, Belgium - March 8 2010) From February 25th to March 7th 2010, Batibouw, the largest building and renovating fair in Belgium, was organized at the Brussels Expo exhibition centre.
As has been the case every year at Batibouw the Belgian Building Awards were given by Batibouw, Bouwkroniek, a Belgian magazine that focuses on the building industry, the Building Confederation, the employers’ federation for the building industry and Top Bouw, the most used online database providing financial and economic information relating to the building industry.
Part of this event was the presentation of the Design Award, which is an initiative of Batibouw, in close collaboration with the Order of Architects. This prize awards ingenious aesthetic innovations in home furnishing.
The jury awarded this price to Wienerberger for its Korasun® photovoltaic solar panels, having been impressed by the combination of the green high-tech, the aesthetic style and the user-friendly characteristics of these special solar panels.
The Korasun® photovoltaic solar panel and its components are manufactured entirely in Belgium. Alongside Wienerberger, the project partners are Koramic, Photovoltech, Soltech and Recticel. And for the production of this panel, the Photovoltech solar cells are used. This panel can be perfectly integrated into the clay roof tiles of Wienerberger. The company and its partners proof with this innovative solar panel what building integrated photovoltaics can be.
