Photovoltech's expansion plans become reality

(Tienen, Belgium - August 5 2008) - Photovoltech has selected DHV, a Dutch engineering company, to design and build her new solar cell factory in Tienen. DHV will be responsible for the architecture, the building techniques and the building and process related installations.

The new solar cell factory is the second expansion of Photovoltech. At the end of 2007 2 new production lines were put into service. The new factory will have a total surface of 26.500 mē divided into 3 floors.

At the beginning of 2010 the factory will be ready to start up the first new production lines that will bring the total cell production capacity to at least 140 MWp. The new factory will be able to provide almost 400 MWp/year. Together with the present production capacity in the other buildings of Photovoltech (80-85 MWp), the company will be able to host a total yearly production capacity up to more than 500 MWp. This means that, once installed, the Photovoltech cells will be able to provide 100.000 families in the centre of Europe of all the electricity they need on a yearly basis counting on a production of 500 MWp/year.

Within the next 2 years, Photovoltech will create approximately 100 new jobs.
